Meet Our Staff

Thamara Barthelus

Financial Wellness Consultant

Thamara Barthelus, a student financial wellness consultant, guides students through the process of making effective financial decisions that result in positive short-term and long-term solutions.

Her educational background began in Tulsa, where she earned a bachelor’s of social work from Oral Roberts University followed by a master’s of human relations from the University of Oklahoma. She then went on to earn a doctorate in management at the University of Maryland University College, where she currently serves as an assistant MBA adjunct professor.

Prior to her career at TU, Barthelus served as a financial education coordinator at Arvest Bank where she taught financial literacy classes to community organizations. Within that role, she also managed and facilitated the train-the-trainer program for financial educators. In addition to her teaching and training roles, she has more than 10 years of experience providing leadership training, a role appointed to her as the founding chair of Lead North (formerly north Tulsa Development Counsel).

A two-time recipient of the Achievers Under 40 award, Barthelus is viewed as a change agent in her community. Her service to diverse populations is reflected in her board experience. Among the organizations she has served are: Tulsa’s Young Professionals (TYPros), Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), Leadership Tulsa (LT), Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice (OCCJ), Tulsa Area United Way – Women’s Leadership Council (WLC), and Kingdom Keys Ministries (KKM).

When not preoccupied with obligations, she enjoys reading, mentoring young adults, and spending time with her family.
